Buller REAP is a ‘Not For Profit’ organisation, that has been established in the Buller Community since 1981, with a main office based in Westport. We are funded by the Ministry of Education, the Tertiary Education Commission, the Ministry of Social Development and various other Government contracts and grants.
Our mission is To Promote Learning Journeys for the whanau of Kawatiri/Buller.
We provide this through Education and Community service provision in Early Childhood Education, Schools Support and Holiday Programmes, Youth Programmes and Transition Service, Adult and Community Education, and Positive Ageing Programmes and Support.
Some of our Featured Programmes
Buller REAP’s Early Childhood Education Programme – is funded by the Ministry of Education and has a team of community based early childhood educators, living in communities across the Buller. This service is for families with children under 5, providing support for playgroups, the “Let’s Get Talking” programme for 4 yr olds before they start school, music programme, play gym and advocating for quality rural early childhood education and parent support.

Youth Development and Youth Transition Services – are funded by the Ministry of Social Development. These programmes aim to encourage positive choices and leadership development in our young people through health awareness, activities, personal development and school support and as part of government’s strategy for ensuring all youth have access to transition support from school to work or further training.

Buller REAP offers Support to Schools in the Buller District through the Ministry of Education funding for Touring Performers and one off programmes for rurally isolated schools, and is Secretariat to the Buller Principals Assn.

Adult and Community Education – is funded from the Tertiary Education Commission for assisting Buller communities with the aims of Strengthening Social Cohesion, Raising Foundation Skills and Targeting Learners Whose Initial Learning Was Unsuccessful. Priorities include – literacy, digital literacy, numeracy, English language (ESOL), NZ Sign Language and Te Reo Maori.
